Matthew Arthur Williams is an artist, photographer, lecturer and DJ, living and working in Glasgow. 

Working across multiple disciplines, his most recent shows include: Soon Come which comprised photographic works, film, a sound installation and publication of the same name presented at DCA, Dundee in 2023; Pictures of Us at Gathering (London), Five by Five at Incubator (London). and Open Secret at Agnes, (Ontario, Canada).

His work has also been exhibited at Jupiter Artland and Johnson Terrace Gardens as part of a commission for Edinburgh Art Festival (2021) and he has developed exhibition projects and commissions with Glasgow International (2024), Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow (2022), Viborg Kunsthal, Denmark (2021), Street Level Photoworks, Glasgow (2019) and Transmission Gallery, Glasgow (2017).  Recent close collaborations include ongoing work with Ajamu X and Alberta Whittle. 

Williams’ research has recently been supported through programmes at Cove Park, Primary Nottingham, CCA Glasgow, The Bothy Project, Hospitalfield, LUX Scotland and is the recent recipient of Ampersand/Photoworks 2024 residency. 

Projects
