Water colour painting of Stan Lee sitting at a desk on the left side of the image. He wears a turquoise top with a white collar. He has sunglasses on and a mug in his hand. There are posters on the walls behind him. The interior looks like an office. The posters feature the Hulk, Spider Man and one with the text Excelsior on it. A red and white table sits on the yellow floor, it has a star in the centre. There is a bookshelf and some other furniture
Gestural Painting, bold colours. A green loch Ness monster comes out of the blue water in the foreground, to its right is a bridge of some sort with bright orange and red marks leading into the back ground. The background is a city scape of Glasgow which includes the squinty bridge and a crane as well as some buildings in reds and yellows. A purple/bluesky is behind them with some white clouds

Jonathan McKinstry’s solo exhibition I like things I remember is a collection of paintings inspired by childhood memories of fun, games, and tasty treats!

Iconic snacks from the 70s and 80s, including Findus crispy pancakes, Tizer, Mr. Whippy, Wimpy Burgers are referenced, with the colours of branding and packaging used to invoke memories of his youth. Memories of Jonathan’s favourite board games are featured too, like Operation, Buckaroo and Hungry Hippos. Action figures, one of Jonathan’s lasting loves from childhood, also play a part in the exhibition. Jonathan carries his most cherished memories through to adulthood and is still a massive fan of comics and a regular visitor to Comic Con festivals.
