NVA
Recreating an anti-car action by the1960’s Dutch anarchist movement, NVA made 50 white bikes freely available for use across the Festival. The main pick-up/drop-off point was The GI Hub (54 Miller Street), where there was also an exhibition of archive material about the original action. In the spirit of the original, the bikes were locked but the combination code was widely publicised.
Supported by GI Festival. Additional support for this project came from the Scottish Arts Council and Hugh Fraser Foundation.
NVA & Central Station asked people to contribute to a crowd-sourced film to celebrate the White Bike Ride Out on April 15, 2010.
